ex is an annual exhibition profiling a selection of artists at the beginning of their careers. It has been selected from the degree shows of Fine Art graduates throughout the country who have formerly completed their Foundation course at Leeds College of Art. The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue essay by Catriona McAra.

Adeeb Ashfaq (b. 1990 Bradford, UK) recently graduated from BA Fine Art, Central Saint Martins. Recent exhibitions include ‘Nowness Now’, Fischerstiege Gym, Vienna; ‘work no. 14 [with  **L*I*V*E**M*U*S*I*C**]’, Vogue Fabrics night club, London; ‘investigation’, house, London. Ashfaq also co-founded SOUP (Socialising Outside University Practices) an alternative / parasitical art school, co-curated ‘BECAUSE THE INTERNET’ with Hanqing Miao, and is director of VAG (Virtually A Gallery), a virtual gallery space based in Peckham, London which focuses on alternative and 'otherised' art practices.

Simone Barnes (b. 1992 Bradford, UK) recently graduated from BA Fine Art, Chelsea College of Art. Recent exhibitions include ‘From’, Hotel Elephant, London; ‘Daze’, Shapes Gallery, London; ‘C3’, Acme Studios, London. 

Kelly Bishop (b. 1993 Leeds, UK) recently graduated from BA Fine Art, Chelsea College of Art. Recent exhibitions include ‘Translations’, Chelsea College of Art Triangle Space, London; ‘Possession’, Safe Store Whitechapel, London; ‘Ennead’, 14 Warren Street, London.

Alice Chandler (b. 1993 Leeds, UK) recently graduated from BA Sculpture, University of Edinburgh. Recent exhibitions include ‘Keeping up with the Joneses’, Assembly House, Leeds; ‘The Skinny Showcase’, Hill Street Design House, Edinburgh; and ‘Entente’, Hotel Elephant, London. Chandler was graduate artist in residence at Assembly House, Leeds and also recently won 2nd prize in Art Retail Network’s “Exhibit Me” competition. She is a selected artist for RSA New Contemporaries 2016.

George Garthwaite (b. 1992, Wakefield, UK) recently graduated from BA Fine Art Painting & Printmaking, Glasgow School of Art. Recent exhibitions include ‘Special Blend’, ArtLacuna, London; ‘Rainy Window (Songs of Resilience)/Bon Voyage’, West Princes, The Plinth, Glasgow; ‘Glasgow > Leeds; Leeds > Glasgow’, blip blip blip, Leeds.

Sarah Hardy (b. 1992 Leeds, UK) recently graduated from BA Sculpture & Environmental Art, Glasgow School of Art. Recent exhibitions include ‘GRABANAN’, The Old Hairdresser's, Glasgow. 

Samuel Keelan (b. 1992 Huddersfield, UK) recently graduated from BA Sculpture, Wimbledon College of Art. Recent exhibitions include ‘Wyrral IX’, 51 Hilary Road, Wirral and ‘Keeping up with the Joneses' film screenings’, Assembly House, Leeds.

Annie Leader (b. 1993 Manchester, UK) recently graduated from BA Fine Art, Manchester School of Art. Recent exhibitions include ‘That's All Very Well But…', Wakefield Art Walk; ‘Soft Matter’, The Wonder Inn, Manchester; and also displays multiple external works around the city of Manchester.

Florence Mytum (b. 1993 York, UK) recently graduated from BA Painting, Wimbledon College of Art. Recent exhibitions include ‘Graduate Summer Show’, Wills Art Warehouse, London and ‘Lacey Contemporary Arts Prize’ at Lacey Contemporary Gallery, London. Upcoming projects include ‘NTWRK’ at The Exhibit London, a three month art take-over organised by Flac Group.

Liv Preston (b. 1993 Bradford, UK) recently graduated from BA Sculpture, Wimbledon College of Art. Recent exhibitions include ‘A British Art Show’, MEYOHAS, New York and ‘BLOOD RELATIVE’, S.t.C.F.t.H.o.t.S, Leeds. Preston runs online archive www.alatento.com and recently completed a residency at Tout Quarry, Portland.

Harriet Selka (b. 1992 Huddersfield, UK) recently graduated from Painting, Edinburgh College of Art. Recent exhibitions include ‘Old Credit Union’, Skibbereen Arts Festival, Skibbereen, Co. Cork, Ireland; ‘U @ BHG’, Blue House Gallery, Schull, Co. Cork, Ireland; ‘Print Show’, Dundas Street Gallery, Edinburgh.

Ellie Wadman (b. 1992 Winchester, UK) Recently graduated from Sculpture, Wimbledon College of Art. Recent exhibitions include ‘Keeping up with the Joneses' film screenings’, Assembly House, Leeds and ‘Wyrral IX’, 51 Hilary Road, Wirral.
